Resolution: ALR 2020-10
Title: Amend Article VI - Elected Officers of the Riders Constitution of the Department of Tennessee
Origin: Greenbrier Post 45

WHEREAS, The American Legion, Department of Tennessee Riders Constitution and Bylaws was last amended January 23, 2010; and
 
WHEREAS, The Article VI - Elected Officers of The American Legion Constitution guides the proper wear of the American Legion emblems with its guiding principles; and
 
WHEREAS, The principle, Article VI - Elected Officers needs to be changed of The American Legion, Department of Tennessee Constitution; and
 
WHEREAS, The principle, Article VI - Elected Officers as currently written needs to be changed:
ARTICLE VI - Elected Officers
Section 1. Elected Post ALR Officers will be:
  1. Post ALR Director
  2. Post Assistant ALR Director
  3. Post ALR Secretary
  4. Post ALR Treasurer
  5. Post ALR Sergeant at Arms
  6. Post ALR Road Captain
  7. Post ALR Historian
  8. Post ALR Membership Chairman, and
  9. Immediate Past Post American Legion Rider Director (not elected)
Each shall be elected annually by the paid current members of the Post ALR. See ARTICLE II, Section 3 and 4 of the Bylaws for election procedures.
 
Section 2. Between Post ALR meetings, the administrative power of the Chapter shall be vested in the Post ALR Executive Committee, who's voting members shall consist of all elected officers for the current year and the Immediate Past ALR Post Director. All other Past Post ALR Directors shall be members of the Post ALR Executive Committee with voice, but no vote; therefore, it be
 
RESOLVED, by Greenbrier Post 45, The American Legion, Department of Tennessee, in a regular meeting assembled on 05 November. 2019, That Article VI - Elected Officers of  The American Legion Post Riders, Department of Tennessee shall be amended to read:
 
“ARTICLE VI - Elected Officers
Section 1. Elected Post ALR Officers will be:
  1. Post ALR Director
  2. Post AL Secretary/Treasurer
  3. Post ALR Road Captain
Optional Elected Post positions at the discretion of each individual post:
  1. Post Assistant ALR Director
  2. Post Sergeant at Arms/Road Captain
  3. ALR Post Historian
  4. ALR Post Membership Chairman, and
  5. Immediate Past Legion Rider Director {not elected)
Each to be elected annually by the paid current members of the Post ALR. See ARTICLE II, Sections 3 and 4 of the By-laws for election procedures.
