Renewal Notices are Mailed To Members By National Based on the Cutoff Dates in the "left column indicated above". Prevent Duplicate Renewal Notices from National and reduce the cost of additional mailings. Insure Dues are *Transmitted* to Department weekly. DO NOT HOLD MEMBERSHIP DUES AT THE POST. Membership Dues Are Pavable in Advance of The Legion Year! Dues for 2008 should be paid No-Later-Than October 20. 2007. If 2008 Dues Are Not "Paid-On-Time." Your Membership is: DELINQUENT - IF NOT PAID BY JAN. 1, 2008 SUSPENDED - IF NOT PAID BY FEBRUARY 1, 2008 FORFEITED - IF NOT PAID BY JUNE 30, 2008
Important Point: Dues collected by an American Legion Post are for all three levels, Post, Department and National. A member's annual dues are not considered paid until paid at all three levels, thus the need to transmit dues weekly to Department. Collecting a member's dues at Post level and failing to transmit Department and National Dues in a timely fashion is "illegal".
Remember: Effective January 10, 2007 membership dues were increased. Each Post must transmit $23.50 to Department for Department ($10.00) and National Membership ($13.50) dues.
